FAQ

Are there scratch-resistant induction hobs?

Yes, AEG’s SaphirMatt® induction cooktops are up to 10 times more scratch resistant than conventional cooktops, and our SaphirMatt® SE is up to 3 times more resistant than conventional cooktops. SaphirMatt® has an etchedglass surface, while SaphirMatt® SE is provided with a special coating.

How are the SaphirMatt® induction hobs scratch resistant?

The advanced surface technology of SaphirMatt® induction hobs uses etched glass. It contains microscopic grooves that prevent scratches from becoming visible. The result: the surface is up to 10 times more scratch resistant than traditional hobs.
The SaphirMatt® SE features a special coating, which provides up to 3 times more scratch resistance.

Is it easy to clean SaphirMatt® induction hobs?

Yes, the stainresistant surface of all SaphirMatt® induction hobs makes them easy to clean and helps maintain their newlooking appearance over time. The SaphirMatt® surface makes daily cleaning quick and easy.

How can I clean my SaphirMatt® scratch resistant induction hob?

Wipe your SaphirMatt® hob after each use to keep it in top condition. Most spills, such as water marks or grease stains, can be wiped away once the hob has cooled.
Use a soft, damp cloth and, for a thorough clean, do not use abrasive cleaning materials such as abrasive cleansers or scouring pads, as these may scratch the surface. Be especially careful with any side trims: clean them with dishwashing detergent. Do not use mildly abrasive cleaning products, polishing detergents, unsuitable scrapers, or the rough side of a sponge on the side trims.
We recommend reading your SaphirMatt® manual for the exact cleaning instructions.

Has the SaphirMatt® been recognised with an award?

Yes, the AEG SaphirMatt® hob has been honoured with a Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious design competitions. This award is internationally recognised as a mark of outstanding design quality. The jury praised the SaphirMatt® hob in particular for its premium design, robust engineering, and long lifespan — qualities that also highlight the product’s strong durability.

What are the differences between the AEG SaphirMatt® induction hobs?

AEG offers two different SaphirMatt® induction hobs:
• AEG SaphirMatt®
• AEG SaphirMatt® SE

Both hobs deliver exceptional scratch resistance. The AEG SaphirMatt® SE is up to three times more scratchresistant thanks to a different surface technology that uses a specialised coating. AEG SaphirMatt® is ten times more scratch-resistant due to the etched glass surface.

Which pots and pans can I use on a SaphirMatt® induction hob?

You will need cookware that is compatible with induction (pans with magnetic bases). For optimal performance, the diameter of the pan should match the cooking zone as closely as possible.

Are there models with an integrated extractor?

Yes, the SaphirMatt® series includes models with integrated extraction. However, these versions are not available for the SaphirMatt® SE series.
